Ocean Ambassadors Canada is turning the tide of marine pollution by getting young people into the ocean, educating them about the threat of plastics, and empowering them to make real change. Participants learn to stand-up paddle, participate in a clean-up, discuss the ways ocean plastics impact marine life, and discover ways they can make a difference. Young people are challenged to rethink our use of plastics and empowered to make changes in their own lives—from avoiding throwaway plastics to organizing beach clean-ups and zero-waste initiatives.
Based in Vancouver BC, Sea Smart's school programs, after school programs, and summer camps get youth excited about our oceans and empower them to become environmental champions. Created by marine biologist Dr. Elaine Leung, Sea Smart uses fun, hands-on games and activities to teach youth in kindergarten to grade 12 about current issues impacting our oceans and get them brainstorming solutions in our Vancouver school programs and summer camps. Sea Smart's mission is to help youth understand the role they play in making the world a better place, while building essential life skills like: critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork, and leadership.
